About NHC
The biannual Nordic Hydrological Conferences (NHC) have been a platform for the Nordic and Baltic hydrological community for decades to exchange ideas and views, new development and research, in an open forum and friendly atmosphere. In cooperation with the Nordic Association for Hydrology (NHF), the Nordic and Baltic countries take turn in organizing the conference with thematic priorities shaped by the host country‘s concerns and interests.
In addition to the scientific agenda, the NHC have throughout the decades highlighted vibrant social and networking events, designed to strengthen existing relationships and foster new collaborations within the community. These gatherings have long been a hallmark of NHC, providing a friendly and collaborative environment that facilitates both meaningful connections and lasting professional bonds.
Following minor scheduling adjustments due to the pandemic, the Nordic Hydrological Conference makes its return to Iceland after 17 years. This year’s conference will delve into the effects of climate change on the hydrological cycle and water resources, focusing on adaptation and mitigation measures essential for responding to ongoing and future changes. This theme is particularly timely as the region faces increasingly visible changes in precipitation, temperature, and glacial melt patterns. However, NHC2025 will uphold its longstanding tradition of openness and flexibility, welcoming contributions that go beyond the central theme of climate change and water resources. This inclusive approach allows participants to share diverse research insights and innovative ideas across the full spectrum of hydrology.
